University Avenue Updates

STATUS UPDATE

  • Forest St. connection; services on University from Princeton to Forest.
  • ATC is also installing a new electric transmission line.
  • MG&E is installing is upgrading electrical services.
  • Paving and restoration from Grand to Allen.
  • University Ave will remain one lane inbound only. NOTE: Construction will start on Highland Ave from University Ave to Regent St once University Ave is open in both directions from Grand to Allen.
  • Highland: Main on Van Hise; main on Highland from University to Chamberlain.

PROJECT DETAILS
University Ave. (Grand Ave. to Breese Ter.): Work is scheduled from April 13 – Sep 2, 2011. The project includes replacing the asphalt pavement, street lighting, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, deteriorated curb and gutter and sidewalk as necessary. Parking will be removed throughout the project limits. The traffic summary is as follows:

  • Phase 1 (April 13 to May 22) – University Ave will be closed from Grand Ave to Walnut St, except for one eastbound lane of traffic. Walnut Street from University Ave to Kendall Ave will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
  • Phase 2 (May 23 to June 24) – University Ave from Grand Ave to Breese terrace will be closed except for one eastbound lane of traffic. Walnut Street, Paunack Pl and Forest St will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
  • Phase 3 (June 25 to Mid August) – University Ave from Allen St to Breese Terrace will be closed except for one eastbound lane. Highland Ave, Van Hise Ave, Paunack Pl and Forest St will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
