REAP Food Group’s 13th annual Food For Thought Festival will be held Saturday, Sept 17th, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, off the Capitol Square.
The festival helps to reconnect people with food on a local level through speakers, demonstrations, kids’ activities, information booths from more than 50 local vendors and food producers, and more. This year’s theme is “Eating Through the Seasons.” Highlights will include the Local Foods Chefs’ Tent featuring amazing breakfast and lunch items by Madison’s finest chefs; an “Eating Through the Seasons” chef showdown competition; “All About Apples” – a presentation to help us all learn more about eating, blending, and preserving apples for winter; a talk from Susan Troller, author of “Cluck: From Jungle Fowls to City Chicks;” a demonstration garden; and kids’ activities led by the Madison Children’s Museum and Colleen’s Art Wagon. Organized by REAP Food Group, the festival is made possible with generous support by Organic Valley, Willy Street Grocery Co-op, Metcalfe’s Market, Whole Foods Market, Johnson Block & Co., Wisconsin Cheese Originals, the Wisconsin Vegetable and Potato Growers Association, Community Shares of Wisconsin, and Isthmus Publishing.
