Earth Day

Greetings from the City of Madison Parks Division:

Madison Parks will be hosting the 18th annual Earth Day Challenge on April 19, 2014.

Each year on this day, hundreds of local citizens sharing a passion for the environment gather to conserve and beautify Madison parks through environmental service and clean-up projects hosted city-wide at various Madison parks. Many of these projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Weeding invasive species
  • Pruning/trimming
  • Picking-up litter and trash
  • Planting flowers and/or maintaining flowerbeds
  • Spreading mulch/gravel/dirt
  • Dog park beautification
  • …and much more!

Last year’s event brought in over 40 hosted projects, and the City of Madison Parks Division recognizes and appreciates this ongoing, growing support from the Madison community. We highly encourage Neighborhood Associations to lead a park clean up in their community for early day

If you would like to host a project for the Earth Day Challenge, fill out the on-line registration form for project hosts linked below with project details by deadline April 11, 2014: https://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/celebrate/earthdayChallenge.cfm.

If you have any questions or need ideas for a project, please e-mail parksvolunteer@cityofmadison.com.

Thank you!
