Bird and Nature Walk at Cherokee Marsh: A Walk in Harrier Heaven
Russ Hefty, Madison Parks Conservationist, set a goal to restore open marsh habitat that would attract Harriers, a top tier predator that was previously called a Marsh Hawk. Their presence indicates a healthy ecosystem. Paul Noeldner, Madison Audubon Bird Mentor and Friends of Cherokee Marsh education facilitator, will take you on trails through some of the wetland and prairie restorations to look for hawks and other birds and wildlife that enjoy Russ Hefty’s legacy.
