Moonlight Movie – Apollo 13 & Stargazing

Join Madison Parks for the final Moonlight Movie of the year.

A movie under the stars….about the stars and moon….while gazing at the stars!!

Join Madison Parks for a unique event where we bring two of our most popular events together: Moonlight Movies and Stargazing in Madison Parks.

The Moonlight Movie will be Apollo 13, the 1995 American docudrama starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, and directed by Ron Howard. The film historically depicts the Apollo 13 moon landing mission gone wrong and NASA’s courageous struggle to bring the 3 astronauts home safely.

In addition to the screening of Apollo 13, we will also team up with UW Space Place for stargazing! If the skies are clear, there will be telescopes set up to view the stars and moon.

Movie: Apollo 13
Date/Time: Friday, September 26, 2014 at 7:00p.m.
Where: Garner Park, 333 South Rosa Road.
Movie Run Time: 140 minutes
Movie Rating: PG

Guests are encouraged to bring outdoor seating, such as portable chairs or blankets.

Final Round of Brush Collection Begins Monday September 29th

The Streets Division will begin the final round of brush collection Monday September 29th. “Every neighborhood in the city will receive one more brush collection, starting Monday September 29th,” Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. “It is our goal to be done with brush collection by the time the volume of leaves picks up so we can assign brush crews to leaf collection.”

Madison residents should get their brush trimmed and to the curb as soon as possible to avoid missing the final collection of the season. You can get updated information on when crews are expected in your area by calling 267-2088 or by going to www.cityofmadison.com/streets.

Madison residents can also bring their brush to the Streets Division’s drop off sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd and 4602 Sycamore Av. The sites are open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday they are open until 8 p.m.
