Voter ID Information Sessions

The City Clerk’s Office will hold Voter ID information sessions for the public at 6:30 p.m. in room 201 of the City-County Building on Tuesday, September 13, and on Monday, September 26.

These presentations will cover the recent changes to state elections law, including requirements for photo identification and poll book signatures, and information on how to obtain an identification card for voting purposes.

According to the Brennan Center of the New York University Law School, the following groups do not have a Wisconsin driver’s license or identification card:

  • 23% of persons aged 65 and older
  • 17% of white men and women
  • 55% of all African American males
  • 49% of African American women
  • 46% of Latino men
  • 59% of Latina women
  • 78% of African American males age 18-24
  • 66% of African American women age 18-24

Voter ID information sessions will be held throughout Madison in September, October, November, and December. Thirty-two sessions have been scheduled so far. To schedule a presentation for your group, contact the Clerk’s Office at clerk@cityofmadison.com or 608-266-4601.
